This is a waymarked trail, so just follow the red signs! To help though, here is a bit of a description. From the main car park leave the toilet block on your right and follow the main track and red waymarkers slightly uphill, with the river on your left. After a short distance you will see a picnic area on your right. Follow the path between the picnic benches and go out through the gate on the far side.

Take the track uphill straight ahead. When you reach the boundary wall keep following the main track round to the right. We have in the past, come off the track in this area, into the forest on the right, and found a shady spot for a picnic. Continuing on, where the track divides keep right gently downhill following the red waymarkers.

Follow the track out of the forest and between the fields, where it becomes a narrower footpath. Go through the gate and turn right along the tarmac road passing the entrance to Bellever YHA on your left. Where the road divides keep right and turn right along the road. After a short distance turn right along the forest track to return to the main car park.

This is a popular walk, so expect to see lots of dog walkers etc. It does get quieter though, as you get further from the river. It is popular for good reason, and deep into the forest, you can find lovely lovely peaceful spots. Of course, the river is most peoples highlight, and rightly so. It is very picturesque, and a lovely spot for a picnic at the end of the walk, if you haven't already stopped.

Tot Tips:

Don't go down to the river as soon as you arrive! It is so good down there, we find it hard to get the little ones away. So, if you want to walk, go straight onto the route, and save the river for a picnic at the end.
